Preventive Care
We are your best defense against painful, dangerous oral conditions like tooth decay, periodontal disease, and oral cancer. With our complete lineup of preventive care solutions, you can sustain a fresh, healthy mouth and a beautiful smile. Supported by advanced technology, like digital X-rays and needle-less anesthetics, our preventive treatments protect your smile, while keeping you comfortable for a truly positive experience.
Preventive care includes:
Oral Hygiene and Screening Visits
For a lifetime of healthy smiles, you need diligent oral health habits and regular professional hygiene visits. For patients with healthy gum tissue, and exam and cleaning is indicated every six months to carefully clean the teeth and remove plaque buildup before it hardens and causes irritation to delicate soft tissue. We also screen for oral health problems, such as cavities, bruxism (teeth grinding), and oral cancer. Our professional hygienist will take time to instruct you on proper homecare methods, so you can take an active role in your oral health.
Patient Education
We share years of clinical experience with you through focused, personalized education and demonstrations. With patient education software by Dentrix, we will show you valuable techniques and important facts about oral conditions and procedures. We encourage active patient participation and welcome questions – and we answer with thoughtful, clear responses.
Periodontal Therapy
Proper flossing and oral hygiene habits, along with regular preventive care appointments, serve as your best defenses against gum disease. However, if plaque invades below the gum line, bleeding gums and halitosis can occur – and these are the initial signs of gum disease. We will take immediate action to defeat the infection and minimize adverse effects. Gum disease is a dangerous condition that must be dealt with quickly and effectively to prevent tooth loss, bone loss, and systemic health problems.
To ensure your comfort, we use Oraqix needle-free anesthetic, which delivers a liquid anesthetic to the infection site via a blunt-tip applicator. Next, we gently scale away the plaque buildup, smooth the affected root surfaces, and apply Arestin antibiotic powder to prevent a recurrence. We can also remove damaged gum tissue with a soft tissue laser so that new, healthy gum tissue will generate.
With our thorough periodontal program, our goal is to eliminate infections in the soft tissue and improve the health of all the supporting structures of the teeth.
